Carrie "Pixie" Peralta, Distance Coach/Assistant Coach
Hi, I’m Carrie “Pixie” Peralta, Distance and Assistant Coach of the SMHS Track & Field team. I was in the graduating class of 2008, and ran track and cross country all four years at San Mateo High School. In track & field, I ran the 4x100, 200m, 400m, and 4x400m. Ed Riley was my coach three of those four years, and gave me the nickname “Pixie”; and to this day, I still don’t know why. As I graduated high school, Coach Riley asked me if I wanted to be the assistant coach for the sprinters. I gladly said yes, and have been enjoying my time back on the track for the past three years. My most memorable experience in high school was when our frosh-soph team tied for first at the PAL championships my sophomore year. In addition to continuing my education at SFSU, I still enjoy running recreationally and have run some races such as the “Bridge to Bridge”, “Far Side”/”Run Wild for a Child”, and the infamous “Bay to Breakers”. This is now my third year coaching and I hope to bring the same fun and enjoyment to the athletes as I had when I was on the team. |
