Gene Pallas, Pole Vault Coach
I am a native Californian. Born, raised and lived all my life in the Bay Area. Currently, I live in Foster City. I grew up in San Bruno and graduated from Capuchino High School (Sorry Bearcats!). At Cap, I played football, wrestled, ran track, and pole-vault, of course. I attended college at U.C. Berkeley where I graduated with a degree in computer science. As for my professional experience, I was employed for 14 years at Applied Biosystems in instrument development developing instrumentation that helped sequence the human genome. Flying is one of my passions, and I have my private pilots license and fly whenever possible (flying through the air - probably why I like pole vaulting so much). Over the last 10 years in Foster City, I have coached AYSO Soccer, Little League, and I am currently Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 175. I love working with youths and believe that with self-confidence and encouragement, they can achieve almost anything while still remaining good human beings. This is my second year with the Bearcats Track Team, and I am truly enjoying every minute working with this great group of kids. |
