Nick Pallas, Pole Vault Coach

Hey, my name is Nick Pallas, and I specialize in pole vault, hurdles, and jumps.

I was part of the SMHS graduating class of 2014, and played football and ran track all four years. In high school I ran hurdles, the 4x1, and pole vaulted. I started my college career at College of San Mateo as a decathlete (100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m, 110Hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, 1500m), and had the privilege of running there for two years, placing 4th in the state, before transferring to UCSD where I unfortunately couldn’t continue track and field.

I began coaching with Ed Riley straight out of high school, but it wasn’t until I became a decathlete that I truly began developing myself as a coach. I take great pride in having such a broad knowledge of the sport and knowing I can apply my knowledge and experience to almost every event. I’ve always felt a great sense of fulfillment from coaching, and the most I can hope for is that my athletes find some aspect of track and field to be passionate about, whether it’s beating their PR, winning competitions, or even just the structure and exercise that comes with the sport.
